Frequently Asked Questions

Does Presence sync my data to the cloud?

No. Every focus session, intention, and setting lives exclusively on your device. There are no servers, no accounts, and no cloud sync. Your data is yours alone.

How do I cancel my Annual subscription?

Open iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, find Presence, and tap Cancel Subscription. You'll retain access until the end of the billing period.

I lost my purchase after reinstalling — what do I do?

Open Presence, navigate to the upgrade screen, and tap Restore Purchases. The app will verify your original purchase with Apple and unlock premium features automatically. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID used at purchase.

Does the app require an internet connection?

No. Presence is fully offline. The only moment it touches the network is when processing a purchase or restoring one — handled securely by Apple and RevenueCat.

“Hold to Exit” is intentional friction — not a responsiveness bug

During an active Focus Session, exiting requires a 1-second press-and-hold gesture on the exit button. This is a deliberate product decision: the brief hold creates a mindful pause that interrupts impulsive phone-checking behaviour. It is the core mechanic of the app — the friction is the feature. All other navigation, buttons, and tap targets throughout the app respond instantly to standard single taps and behave in full accordance with Apple Human Interface Guidelines.

Screen Time shield uses the .all() category

The ManagedSettings shield is applied using the .all() application category for simplicity in this MVP build. The shield is raised when the user starts a Focus Session and lifted immediately when the session ends — either by its natural timer completion or via the “Hold to Exit” gesture. No apps are permanently blocked.

No login required for review

Presence is fully functional without an account or internet connection. Install and launch — the app walks through onboarding (HealthKit + Screen Time permissions) and immediately enters the dashboard. Premium features can be tested by tapping the upgrade button and using the sandbox environment on a device signed in to a Sandbox Apple ID.
